White-headed duck is a distinctive bird with it’s unusual blue coloured beak and rainbow colour feathers, but sadly listed as “Critically Endangered” by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN). This artwork was created in February 2021 to support David Shepherd Wild Life Foundation, an organisation that supports endangered wildlife all around the world. It is the artist’s taking from a beautiful photograph by the talented local photographer, Mr. Amir Alimoradian. The background and the composition is from the artist’s imagination.
The title was chosen to draw attention to the specious’ worrying endangered status.
This is a large square 50 x 50 cm (20 x 20 “) piece in which colour pencils were used to create the main subject on drafting film, and pastels for the dusk scene in the background on a separate layer of pastelmat that was placed behind the transparent film to create the dept and the haziness in the background. This composition makes this artwork special in terms of technique and method.
